|| FIRST FLOOR
The Burning Man has returned to his fireplace, and anyone entering the Parlor will find it too stifling hot to remain for long, even without wrestling with its guardian. The man watches them from the middle of the flame, eyes alert and pained. Any ignition of flame tonight will summon him, and anyone who takes a hot shower might find themselves with company.
The Pool is open tonight, offering a respite to the heat if anyone should dare enter the water. The surface is calm and inviting, the air here cooler thanks to the chill of the water. It is enticing, and promises relief from the sweltering heat.
At the rim, however, the Drowned Woman sits. She does not seem as frantic as she normally is, nor as hostile or aggressive. Instead she stares into the water, her blonde hair soaked and dripping into the surface, crying quietly and reaching out to the pool. And soon something else breaks the surface, reaching out to touch her extended hand. The Mermaids at first appears graceful and elegant, until one sees them up close: their maws are wide and filled with rows shark-like teeth, and their scaly hands end in claws. By the time anyone has a close enough look to see the sheer volume of teeth, however, they are likely already ensnared by these hunters.
The Study is empty tonight, and feels strangely deserted. Nothing seems to be out of place or missing at first glance, but there is the sense of absence, as though something that gave the place presence before is missing.
Sitting rather innocently in the chair is a small, well worn stuffed monkey wearing a green vest. It seems to be handmade, and has been patched many times as parts of it wore out, often with different colored scraps of fabric. Tucked down the back of its vest is a small folded piece of paper, covered in childish script. At first glance it looks as though someone was writing lines, the phrase "Something is wrong" repeated many times over the page. At the very bottom, cramped in the corner and barely legible, the writer has added an altered version. "I am wrong."
There is no indication as to who might have left the toy in the chair.

|| SECOND FLOOR
The Student Bedroom is safe again tonight, but not without complications. The temperature in the room has risen dramatically, making the room particularly stifling and unwelcoming. The air seems almost to vibrate, at times, though nothing dangerous ever presents itself or dares to enter the room. From time to time, a young woman’s voice sobs the words "come back." There is never any answer.
A hand mirror has found its way onto the desk of the Red Bedroom. The tapping noise here is more frequent, with a more distinct pattern. Tap, tap, tap first fast, then slow, then fast again. A part of the surface has been wiped clean of the fog, just enough to show a small, barred portion of the reflection of any house-guest who looks into it. For some reason, their eyes seemed to have changed colour.
In the Gallery, Don has died again. Left in his place once more is the Art Enthusiast, who stands in the middle of the room, his head cradled in his hands. He seems to be attempting to straighten himself out, a task that is impossible with his broken bones. Moaning under his breath in frustration and sorrow, he attacks only those who come close to him, lashing out at those near enough that they might be able to touch him.

|| BASEMENT
The basement is unlocked tonight, and the Doctor is in residence -- ready to take any patients who wish to make an appointment.

|| GREENHOUSE
In the Greenhouse the carriage driver has reappeared, the summer fog hazy around him. The light from his lantern seems to cast odd, almost living shadows into the fog, shapes that are at once both mundane and fantastic. As the fog swirls around the carriage, the house-guests might even catch a vision of stars, hidden in the shadow of the wheel as though waiting for notice.
To all of this, the carriage driver seems to pay no attention, his head tilted as though listening to something only he can hear.
There are no sounds to the illusions, the strange twisted creations that dance in the mist, but as the night progresses, they seem to press closer to the carriage, reaching for it as though in a strange appeal for his protection. Human shapes with twisted bird wings, animal shapes with human features, all reaching out to him.
The carriage driver says nothing, and only smiles.
