NIGHT 019: THIRD HOUSE

|| FIRST FLOOR || SECOND FLOOR || THREAT DOWN
|| GENERAL

As though drawn by the darkness of the night the Wraiths have returned to the house. They are difficult to see, even in the flashes of lightning, and are very hard to avoid unless one is very hyper vigilant. Their touch will do little more than sap a tiny bit of energy from anyone who runs into them. The contact will feel like the brush of spider-webs upon their skin, clinging and tangling in their hair. Those who spend very much time in this house might find themselves needing to rest, or at least eat something, but the lack of light protects them from the other abilities of these dangerous being.

The doors on the Second Floor are once more unlocked, allowing entry to the rooms that have been denied to the house-guests during the day. It seems that those within them have had a rough time while locked away.

|| FIRST FLOOR

In the Stables the saddled horse has returned. He is bound once more, and is clearly displeased with the state of things, snorting and rolling his eyes, verging on rearing. His anxiety is obvious to anyone who comes near to him, and in every flash of lightning, it seems almost as though wings appear beneath his feet, though they vanish as soon as darkness falls once more.

He will bite anyone who steps near him that is not a High Level Sensitive.

The Shadow Man has taken residence in the otherwise empty Gentleman's Lounge. He is easy to miss, tucked away in one of the back booths. No drink sits on the table in front of him, and to those who first catch sight of him, he seems almost thoughtful. He holds a rather elegant knife in one hand, dropping it almost rhythmically into the wood of the table before pulling it free again and repeating the action.

His strange silence will be interrupted should anyone dare too close, though those that might have died by his hands during Rose's Party might find themselves safe to approach,should they dare. A close look at what he’s doing reveals the point of the knife has carved an elaborate picture into the surface of the table, a woman seen from the back holding a small bundle that seems to hold a child.

The details are difficult to see without getting closer.

In the Hot springs the creatures have also appeared, their flayed and skinned form bubbling in the hot water. The water itself seems to have grown to temperatures too high for comfortable seating. The smell of burnt flesh and hair pervades the entire area, bloody hands clawing at the ground around the springs and reaching for the ankles of any who come near.

|| SECOND FLOOR

In the Wax Bedroom the Wax Man has been stripped of his shirt and is kneeling on the floor. Welts covering his back, clearly from a whip of some sort. The damage is extensive, and it makes it difficult to tell exactly how many times he has been struck, the marks from each lash overlapping the others. The skin is raw, and still oozing blood, in some places the skin is entirely gone. His hands have been broken, crushed into useless pulp, and he is clearly in pain. But despite the horrific nature of his injuries, the man is laughing, deep seated chortles shaking his damaged frame. His words echo through the hallway, repeated at a loud near manic level around his laughter. "You can't put water back in the sky!"

Whatever has caused his pain, and whatever reason they had for causing it, it seems that he regards the price as worth whatever he has done. Around his neck hangs a cord with a single silver coin, where it brushes his skin it raises obviously painful blisters, but he makes no move to lift the thing from his skin.

In the Silk Bedroom the woman has been whipped as well, though her hands are undamaged. Her kimono has been torn from her body, and she clutches the fabric to her chest, weeping softly inside her glass prison. Her hair has fallen out of the delicate arrangement, tangling around her face like spider-webs, and the beautiful silk of the dress has been bloodies by the uncaring blows.

She will make no more towards the house-guests, or seem in an way capable of communicating. She, like the Wax Man is wearing a silver coin around her neck. It seems to be causing her considerable pain, and her hands clutch uselessly at the fabric as through she resists the urge to rip it from her neck.

In the Velvet Room the case stands open and the doll kneels on the floor, body folded gracefully in half, forehead pressed to the ground. He does not seem to have the ability to rise, and has instead embraced this situation as best he can. Though he has been similarly abused to the other two, he seems almost dangerously calm, breathing deep and even. Unlike the other two his arms have been bound, touching at the elbows and cuffed together in three places. It looks incredibly uncomfortable, and the positioning of his arms is clearly placing pressure upon the fresh lashes on his back. He seems at ease in the strange pose, the muscles that would have tightened carefully smoothed of tension. The comfort in which he has relaxed into the stance suggests that it is not his first time to find himself so bound.

He offers no evidence of discomfort, and though the silver coin burns a similar circle of raw, blistering flesh on his chest, he shows no more reaction to it than he does to the other marks left upon him. Each breath seems carefully controlled, taken to the proper depth, and released at the proper time. It is not the breathing of someone in a panic, instead he seems to be meditating, calming himself despite the state of his body. Though the blood indicates that he must be flesh, he could be a statue carved from stone.

Anyone entering the Herbal Bedroom will feel a strange pricking on their skin, not unlike the feeling the Wraiths touching them might cause. This feeling, however, does not result in any exhaustion. Instead the house-guests will begin to feel a little warm, though not unpleasantly so. The warmth will spread to their limbs, and settle in their stomachs as a very pleasant sort of languidness. They may find themselves longing to touch another person, to let skin brush skin, and they will most certainly find themselves shedding their clothes, piece by piece. This feeling will fade once they have been out of the room for one hour, though it grows progressively needy the longer they remain within the room.

The Carved Parlor has been badly damaged since nightfall. The glass wall is cracked all the way through, the original point of damage spider-webbing out into almost delicate patterns. It is as though something heavy struck it, though nothing in the room is nearly heavy enough to dent it. The furniture is smashed beyond repair, little more than kindling now. It is as though someone has taken a hammer to it. Nothing has been left untouched in the room, and the crackling leftover of the violence committed within it hums in the air like a live wire. There is no sign of Lock or the girl he guarded, save for a tangled pile of blankets left on the floor. Tucked within the fabric is a small, folded piece of paper.

The Husk Bedroom is strangely warm tonight, though the sobbing has only increased in volume. The bed is inviting and any who lie there will feel a strange sense of comfort, as if they are in fond company. The room is safe tonight, though the crying only gets louder as time is spent there.

In the Bell Bathroom tonight there is a putrid smell of meat and blood, rot not given quite enough air to breathe and therefore growing stagnant. Shadowy figures mark the other side of the enclosed shower area, hands smacking uselessly against the glass, the noise punctuated by the moaning and groaning of the Skinless trapped inside of this prison.
